I've started this post several times. I promise this is the last attempt! At this point, I have been in London for nearly a full week (8 hours from said milestone). Already, quite a few things have happened.
Day 1 (Tuesday, 17 January):
After electing to watch Downton Abbey (I am an absolute sucker for costume dramas) over getting sleep (well, I got 2 hours) on the airplane, I embarked on my quest to make it on the Tube to the quite posh borough of Kensington with two 50lb suitcases, my infamous Mary Poppins purse, and a backpack with my dignity. I will admit that dignity may have been lost as I lugged my bags up sets of stairs and along the seemingly long Gloucester Road. I have managed to get most of it back, but I still had my mad moments throughout the week (more on those later).
I moved in and lay upon plastic bags for a while, unable to move. After unpacking and making myself presentable, a pack (yes, a pack) of students migrated to a local university pub and we enjoyed a typical British pub quiz. We knew nothing, but that was of little importance. In a foreign city, with a group of strangers, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
I find it easy to do nothing and just hang out. However, this semester, I am positively determined to make a change. I will make a conscious effort to not slip into the 'easy' way.
Okay, it's nearly 2 in the morning, so I shall post more later. I'll eventually catch up!
